As a professional photographer I have come across many photo malfunctions such as a blown zipper,  missing button or bee sting. It is important to plan ahead for your portrait or wedding sessions which will reduce stress in the long run.  My portrait and wedding photography survival kit consists of the following items:

  1. Mirror. This is probably the most obvious in the list. Other than touching up makeup and fixing a hair out of place, a mirror can also be used to reflect light.
  2. Powder. If hot or humid, skin tends to get shiny and oily. Translucent powder will minimize the shine.
  3. Bobby pins, safety pins, clamps...oh’ my! Whether it be pinning down flyaway hair, keeping your undershirt strap out of the shot or securing items in and out of place, these items can become your best friend on photo day.
  4. Bug spray. Shooting outdoors, especially after a rain storm or muggy day it is safe to bring bug spray.
  5. Lint roller. Everything shows up in photos!
  6. Tide stick. Accidents can happen at any time and anywhere. Be safe, not sorry.
  7.  Water. Stay hydrated. I can’t count the times I have taken photos where people have gotten light headed.
  8. Benadryl and Aspirin. Nothing ruins a photo day more than an allergic reaction or stress headache.
  9. Sewing Kit and Small Scissors. A loose button, a popped zipper or worse a loose string that won’t come unraveling. These two items will come in handy.
  10. Hangers. This last item may sound silly, but when taking photographs many like to change outfits. Be prepared with a few hangers so that clothes remain wrinkle free.
These ten items have served me well over the years for school portraits, engagement photos and especially on wedding days! Check our full list of services at http://www.ctpremierphotos.com/

Photo Processing & Restoration Services

With the COVID-19 pandemic causing shutdown of most businesses for the past few months, we’ve seen many taking part in more outdoor activities such as walks and bicycle rides. Among these trips we’ve seen an array of people taking photographs to share their experiences on social media. Whether it be waterfalls, flowers, or photos of kids taking a stroll on walking paths; we can serve as your one-stop shop to bring your photos to life with an array of photo printing services.

Our in-house printing services allows us to print up to 44 inches long and have stock of canvas, gloss and metallic paper. Just send us your photo(s) you would like to be processed and in most cases we can have your printing turned around within 24 hours.

Another service we offer that has come in handy these past few months is our photo restoration service. House cleaning has been a popular task since the pandemic has hit, which has caused many to come across old photographs, slides and film. We can restore old photos and convert most film and slides to digital. Prices for restoration start at $25.

Smartphone Camera versus DSLR Professional Camera

Smartphone cameras are far superior than they used to be and can be a great alternative to lugging around bulky lighting equipment. However, when it comes to professional photographs, smartphones are not nearly as efficient as a DSLR Camera.

  1. Capturing tight spaces. Even with a wide angle attachment for a smartphone, capturing a tight space such as a bathroom for a real estate listing will come out looking tiny.
  2. Flash. A smartphones flash is no different from a pen light. It is tiny and direct. A DSLR lens takes in a broader range of light and disperses light more evenly making the image look more natural.
  3. Quality. Even on a high resolution; smartphone cameras often come out grainy and darker, not giving the photograph the quality it deserves. Sure, you can use a filter, but even those don’t offer many variations. A professional photograph can adjust their camera on the fly and provide a quality far superior than a smartphone camera.

New Year, New You; Professional Headshots

We’ve all heard the saying don’t judge a book by its cover, but unfortunately you have less than 10 seconds to make a good impression, whether it be a job interview, networking, or connecting online. In a technology connected world, people will often look you up prior to meeting in person, or calling your place of business.

Instead of using a selfie stick, or smartphone camera, consider taking a professional headshot. A typical session lasts 15-30 minutes and consists of a traditional head/shoulder pose. You will obtain proofs after the session and receive one high resolution image on a CD.

Time is precious, therefore you can come to or studio, or we can come to you. If having an event, adding the service of getting a portrait done could act as a great incentive for attending the event. With our on-site printing capabilities, we can take photos upon people entering the event and have them ready to go by the time they depart.
